Unfortunately there is not much fish around in the waters of Bonaire lately. We do go out but do not always return with a catch. When there’s no fish the local fishermen paint their boats, repair damaged parts and await better times. For us it was time for another DIY creative activity: make our own lures. This is how you transform a piece of wood into a Rapala look-a-like (according to their website Rapala has been the world’s favorite fishing lure since 1936). We named it Jamala since this was a coproduction of me and our son Mark. Production of different types of Jamalas is in progress… I hope we soon will announce our first big catch with one of these self-made lures!
