For a while I wanted to post about our kite and action packed trip to the Dominican Republic. This was the perfect vacation! Spending time together as a family without work, school and social life. Experience the fun we have together and the passion we share. Passion to explore new countries, to taste local food, to undertake all kinds of activities like canyoning, rafting, hiking, paragliding. To meet new people and of course to kite. Two and a half weeks were way too short and we hope we will be back someday.
Here are some of our highlights:
1 Staying at the very nice Santo Domingo bed and breakfast in the capital city Santo Domingo with the BEST fresh prepared breakfasts.
2 Driving through the green lush country with beautiful coastlines, jungle mountains, waterfalls and rivers, laidback towns and fruits growing everywhere.
3 Eating fish, lobster, shrimps and other delicious local foods at nice beach restaurants but also at local ‘comedores’.
4 Canyoning and rafting the rivers and waterfalls of the Central Highlands with the guides of Rancho Baiguate.
6 Ordering local dishes without knowing what they are. We now know that a dish called Modongo consists of intestines….and that we don’t like it…..
7 Spending time in surf town Cabarete, where we stayed at the Extreme Hotel. A beautiful beach, great surf atmosphere, 22 knots or more everyday, waves to kite and a perfect flat water spot (La Boca) nearby. What more could we want…. (stay longer ;-0).
